  • Pecuniology is the study of money, from its theoretical roots in economics, through its practical applications in finance, to its cultural meaning in sociology.  If you prefer, you can call this course Money 101.

    This course introduces money from prehistoric barter, credit, and saving through Renaissance accounting and banking institutions and modern investment, derivatives, and insurance markets.

    Each module in this course is organized as a standard week in a conventional one-semester course.  Upon completion of this course, the student should be prepared to complete full courses that build on each weekly module, culminating is a capstone project that incorporates the topics introduced here.
